Since we have two penniless students helping with the website at the moment (although they always seem to find the cash for a night out :) it's obviously incumbent on us to include a special section for students. We hope to start adding regular content very soon and it will include some good freebie - or discount offers - updated on a regular basis so please check back.
In the meantime, we just want to make sure you know about a few money-saving student sites/ideas.Currently, the special offers/freebies apply to students based in the UK - but we plan to add a section for USA students soon!Firstly, if you book train tickets to get to the laundry (aka home:) check out the trainline.com. They offer regular specials - and unlike some other sites, which will remain nameless, they charge you a low SINGLE transaction fee for paying by card online - not a fee per ticket booked like some operators. We'd recommend them - because we've dealt with them on a number of occasion and they offer a great service - tickets arrive in good time too!(And no, we aren't on commission! We just appreciate good service and fair prices.)You can also save a small fortune on travel by joining a website which matches up people with cars to people who need a lift. You look for people advertising your journey - or login and list your journey requirements, then wait for someone to offer you a lift (fuel donation usually required - but miles cheaper than the UK's extortionate train fares!)The website is www.liftshare.com and it now has thousands of members. It gives safety instructions for people offering or requesting a lift - and it's a great environmental idea - saving on transport and carbon emissions.BUT although Liftshare has worked brilliantly until now, we'd never recommend that you get into a car with a stranger. So make sure you follow the rules on checking out your travel partner - and whenever possible, make sure you travel home with an extra friend in tow.If you use any of our tips or links, let us know - we love getting your feedback! And don't forget, you can support the Big Green by making your online purchases through our links to retailers like Amazon, Play.com and Boots.
Hopefully, our student writers will be good enough to make some time to add more content VERY soon - but it wouldn't hurt to give them a push. So feel free to:
with your article requests.Time they put in a bit more effort :) |
